Great drinks, friendly service, chill vibes. Loved it here. I didn’t have a clue on what cocktail to get, told the waitress my base drink, and she had me covered! Would definitely go back and kinda wish they had one closer to the east coast! Now for my standard comments. Location was mid sized, a few booths and tables. It was well kept and clean. Very comfortable seating indoors.

Victor was my bartender but they’re all great and very knowledgeable. They have an amazing Agave & Sotol selection along with great music and perfectly executed cocktails, can’t wait to comeback!

Anvil Bar is a solid spot in Houston if you’re into whisky. They have a cool selection of both well-known and lesser-known older Scotch and other spirits, and the prices are pretty unbeatable—especially their break-even bottles. The only downside is that the half pours end up costing more than you’d expect compared to the full pours, which is a bit annoying. Overall, though, if you’re hunting for quality whisky without breaking the bank, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Firsts Time at Anvil I’ll Be Back Came to Anvil Bar & Refuge for the first time and honestly, this place lives up to the hype. The vibe is just right cool, relaxed, and full of good energy. You can tell it’s a place people come back to for a reason. The cocktails? Unbelievable. Thoughtfully crafted, balanced, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The bar team is top-notch. Huge shoutout to Alexander, he made the whole experience even better with his amazing service and chill attitude. The whole crew just knows how to make you feel welcome without missing a beat. If you’re looking for a legit spot to grab a drink, enjoy the atmosphere, and be around great people this is it. Had a superb time with Drew, delicious cocktails , The kind of place you can definitely order off menu and a very good selection of aged rum which is rare.

Easily one of the best bars in Houston and the happy hour (half price off the 100 list) can't be beat. Bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and the spirits they stock are second to none. I strongly recommend coming early (as in - at open) to get a seat and some interaction with the bartenders since they're super fun.

As always it is a delight at Anvil. I am a former bartender and there’s a reason they are such a highly awarded Houston institution. Excellent drinks and service. Food is good not amazing but it’s a cocktail bar not a restaurant so that is to be expected. Food is fairly priced though.
